Governor Blunt Let's Citizens Vote Online for Turkey Pardon

Governor Matt Blunt is granting the citizens of Missouri an opportunity usually reserved for the executive branch. A pardon will be issued on Thanksgiving Day and netizens can vote online to choose who will live to see another year. Choose online whether you think Turkulese or Stewie deserves a pardon:

Gov. Blunt: There is Still Time to Vote in Turkey Name Contest

Over 4 Million Votes Cast So Far

JEFFERSON CITY – While time is quickly fading on the contest to name this year’s lucky turkey, Gov. Matt Blunt reminds Missourians they still have a few more days to join in the fun. Already more than 4 million votes have been cast to select the name for the turkey the governor will pardon next week.

“This year’s contest to name the turkey who will receive a gubernatorial pardon has been very popular especially in Missouri classrooms,” Gov. Blunt said. “Missourians still have time to make their voices heard on this year’s lucky turkey.”

This year’s contest is shaping up to be a close race between Turkulese and Stewie.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture is collecting votes to name the turkey scheduled to be pardoned the week of Thanksgiving. To vote for this year’s Missouri Thanksgiving Turkey, log onto www.mda.mo.gov.
